What to visit in Faro?
Igreja da Sé - downtown there is our principal church. It's a beautiful building and you can go on the top and watch the view.
The walls and the old city - The library has interior gardens and is very beautiful inside.
Igreja do Carmo - another beautiful church in a great square.
The marina and our shopping district Rua de Santo António - try a pizzeta in Bella Itália or amazing croissants at Gardy. You can order them at the cafe or buy to go in the store in front. My favorites are ham&cheese or chocolate. :)
Free Walking Tours: At 10 am and 4 pm in the arc of the town next to the tourism office you will find a guide to show you Faro. In the end you pay what you think it’s fair.
Wax Restobar - Praia de Faro - good food and drinks with a sea view and a beach day.
Zé dos Matos - Praia de Faro - known for the lingueirão rice.
O Roque - Praia de Faro - fried fish, monkfish rice and a beautiful view to the Ria Formosa.
There is a small place on the right of Praia de Faro, by the road, called Zezea, if you like garlic order the garlic chicken toast and a mini (Sagres or super bock small beer) and eat on the bench watching the sea.
Deserta or Barreta island – there is only one restaurant, Estaminé, where you can eat amazing food, They have also a snack-bar a little more budget friendly. Take some sandwiches and snacks and you can spend the entire day enjoying the island.
Farol - beautiful island with clear water and lots of restaurants to have lunch with friends. A Associação ou a Tasca do João are great. The first bar, Mar A Mais on the beach is really cute.
Culatra - clear sea water and you can eat À do Luis.
